To Say 'No' or Not to ...

We are often thrown into situations which demand a no, but we find ourselves unwillingly compelled to give in at the expense of our comfort and peace.
'NO', is a  power packed word which needs to be duly exercised in situations which take a toll on one's sanity and magnanimity. These situations can be tackled skillfully , with a bit of politeness and resolution.
Like, aunties inviting you to parties that make you cringe or a cousin insisting on bringing some friends along on your wedding day. Or the friend who always hands over a last minute assignment for you to finish. Or the colleague who often leaves early and asks you to save his ass. And the list goes on
.
How do we deal with these situations?

Don't rush to respond straight away. Even though the mind may be pleading  you to say 'no', you may find yourself blurting out a 'yes'. So stop. Take a moment to think over it before you respond.
Prioritize. Saying no helps you plan your time around more  important things.
It gives you more time with people you really love and care about.
Don't try to be a people pleaser. It's no fun being miserable. Don't let people take advantage of your niceness.
The mighty 'no' can release you. From the shackles of insensitive people who fetter you down to their desires.

So,be firm. Be polite. Say no. Repeat if you have to.
