Jannah is one of the greatest gifts stored for the believing righteous. When can one desire Jannah? Only when one is acquainted with the bliss that lies therein. Now, you see why travel agencies spend a great deal on marketing and the glossy pictures. Enticing is the key to potential customers.
Remember incentives drive you to work crazy. The greater the incentive, the greater the efforts. And this is one such incentive, one simply can’t miss!
Allah (SWT) uses vivid imagery to capture us and leave us spellbound and longing for more. Imagine, this is a much prettier sight than all those Walt Disney movies put together. It’s a prettier place than you can imagine and you will be lovelier than Cinderella with a loftier castle and a perfect prince charming.
Yes, it’s true that no fairy godmother can pave your way to Jannah. You walk alone with your belief and efforts.
Come, let me take you on a Jannah tour. You may sip coffee and sit back and relax and ponder over the Mercy of Allah for having Jannah described to you, so that you can work hard for it. Real hard.
Springs in Jannah
Jannah is lush green with green vegetation, and such a place calls for ample water. Man’s innate nature yearns for water.
A walk on the beach is a walk to remember, fun and frolic at water parks and a beautiful fountain is a sight to behold. Visits to waterfalls are a witness to this inclination within. And the patter of raindrops makes everyone gleeful. Water is indeed soothing.
((Within it is a flowing spring))
Surah Ghashiya:12
Fruits of all kinds
Fresh fruits are a delight to look at. Those juicy lush mangoes and those bright cherries and strawberries. You would never have to worry about the season coming to an end as they will be available to you as and when your heart desires.
((Reclining within them, they will call therein for abundant fruit and drink))
Surah Saad:51
Wine
Oh, yes! You read it all fine. There is wine in Jannah for those who restrained themselves seeking the pleasure of their Lord. With no ugly hangovers, and no headache or fatigue after drinking it! None of the ugly additions that come with it. Pure, delicious wine.
((With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring. No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated))
Surah Waqiah:18-19
Immortality
Yes, you can let loose the wild streak in you and go on some crazy adventures. Anything that held you back in Dunya out of fear, you can go right ahead and enjoy it there. There is no death. From skydiving to mountain biking… it will be thrill upon thrill. And there will be no grief of partition from loved ones either.
(( (The dwellers of Paradise will say): “Are we then not to die (any more)? Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise).” Truly, this is the supreme success!))
Surah Saaffat:58-60
Moderate temperature
No more shivering and no more sweatings. Just the ideal temperature to set the mood for an eternal vacation and bliss!
((They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.))
Surah Insan:13
A clean and serene heart
A good party mood can go completely off by the entrance of someone we are not particularly fond of. Even though this person may be a good believer, but we are not made to be. Alhamdulliah, all kinds of resentment will be removed from our hearts so we will be very much at ease in their presence and will be partying with them.
“Their hearts will be as one, and there will be no hatred or jealousy among them.”
Saheeh Bukhari::Volume 4::Book 54::Hadith 476
Crisp silk clothes and accessories
Silk clothes are a sign of royalty and everyone in Jannah will be blessed to wear them, even the men. We will possess clothes fit for kings and queens, inshaAllah. There will be bracelets of gold and pearls to add more to our beauty and joy.
((They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk.))
Surah Hajj:23
Meat that meets your taste
Rare, medium, well done – you will have it exactly the way you want it. From kiftas and kababs to steaks and roasts. Or is it chicken you desire? You can have it all. And you won’t have to worry about not fitting in to your dream dress ever again. Calories and kilograms will be things of the past.
((And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.))
Surah Tur:22
Everything our hearts yearn for
We have come a great way in terms of technology. But still we are very, very far off from having our mere thoughts reproduced in reality. Jannah is where we think of a thing and it is. Just by thinking you will have your gadgets upgraded. You can go on a shopping spree without having to consider your budget or the size of your wardrobe. This verse by itself is enough to outline the sweetness of Jannah.
((And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes))
Huge mansions
Every one dreams of a house as pretty as a picture. Jannah will have houses whose bricks are made of gold and silver.
“Bricks of gold and silver, and mortar of fragrant musk, pebbles of pearl and sapphire, and soil of saffron. Whoever enters it is filled with joy and will never feel miserable…”
Ahmed, at-Tirmidhi, ad-Daarimee
And the greatest of rewards, is looking at the Face Of Allah (swt). May Allah make us amongst those who will be honoured to see Him. The highest of all blessings.
((Faces, that Day, will be radiant. Looking at their Lord.))
Surah Qiyamah:22-23
Above all, these are just my reflections on the verses in the Quran. Jannah is much more than that. A complete surprise package. Not our just reward. But a prize obtained by the Mercy of Allah.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “No one of you will enter Paradise by his deeds alone.” They asked, “Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His Grace and Mercy.”
